Siyu Chen is a multidisciplinary artist of the Chinese diaspora working primarily in drawing, text and video. Her work explores the ghostly sensations between lingering dreams and desires over belonging. Derived from fragments of everyday life, autobiographical details, and visual culture, she creates spatial narratives evoking emotions that remain invisible to hegemonic systems of power.

Chen has exhibited at tutu Gallery (Brooklyn, NY, USA), FJORD (Philadelphia, PA, USA), Arts Letters and Number (Averill Park, NY, USA), am art space (Shanghai, China), Studio Gallery (Shanghai, China), Bumpodo Gallery (Tokyo, Japan), and more. Her work has been collected by Awagami Paper (Tokushima, Japan). She has recently launched her first curation project “Meandering, Spiraling, Unraveling” at Accent Sisters (Jersey City, NJ, USA). She is a recent resident at ChaNorth (Pine Plains, NY, USA), and a current mentee at NYFA Immigrant Artist Program (New York, NY, USA).

Chen is currently based in Brooklyn, NY.
