siyu 思予 chen

Siyu Chen is a Chinese-born visual artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Her drawing, video and text-based work center around migration, language, dream state and cruelty. She makes use of representational symbols derived from waking state and dream state through an intuitive image-making or writing process. Her work has exhibited internationally, including tutu Gallery (New York), iidrr (New York), Arts Letters and Number (Upstate New York), am art space (Shanghai), Studio Gallery (Shanghai) and Bumpodo Gallery (Tokyo). Since 2019, she has taught courses and workshops in digital fabrication, drawing and storytelling at Tongji University, Parsons, Xinchejian Shanghai, and more. She holds a BFA in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design and a MFA from Parsons The New School of Design focusing on time-based media, creative writing and media theory.
